Birdmilk sees Ukrainian restaurant duo opening a bakery in Notting Hill

birdmilk bakery opening in notting hill

Notting Hill's well-heeled residents will soon have another lovely new bakery on their doorstep. Birdmilk is the latest in a recent line of businesses that originated in Ukraine but have also opened in London like Boca a Boca and Piana Vyshnia.

The restaurateurs behind it are Dima Zakhodiakin and Alina Kosichkina who own 32 restaurants in Kyiv including bakery chain Khlebniy which this London opening is apparently based on.

Taking over the old Pain Quotidien site on Notting Hill Gate, it's billed as an all-day breakfast spot and bakery with its own coffee roastery. Sustainability is a theme in their design with tables and chairs made from 300-year-old barns in the Ukrainian Carpathians and coffee cups made from coffee husks.

Menus are still being finalised but dishes might include:

  • Roti with veal pastrami and poached eggs
  • Chicken katsu sandos
  • Truffle brioche with crab, poached egg and avocado
  • Basque cheesecakes and pistachio croissants

That's all we know so far, but we'll bring you more on this when we can.
