José Pizarro to open Lolo, his third Bermondsey restaurant

Jose Pizarro to open Lolo, his third Bermondsey restaurant

17/7/24 - updated with more details about the restaurant

This year, José Pizarro has been very busy. He's been celebrating his 25th Anniversary in London as well as receiving a big honour, the Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, from King Felipe of Spain. And next up, he's getting ready to open his fifth restaurant in London.

Called Lolo, it will also be his third restaurant in Bermondsey.

This time. it'll be an all-day restaurant, with dishes including salmon cured in PX sherry, some devilled eggs, salted cod and saffron and a selection of sandwiches. Those sandwiches include the Lolo de Ternera (beef, confit green peppers and melted cheese) and the Bikini (cheese, Jamón 5J and truffle). Throughout the day, more dishes include:

  • Salt cod with roasted fennel, chilli, and orange
  • Iberico pork ribs, crisps with mussels in escabeche and black salt

It all sounds like a cross between the more casual side of Jose's restaurants, like the Jose tapas bar, and the more straightforward restaurant Pizarro - so a more casual approach overall. In that regard, it's aiming to have more of a cafe feel during the day and a wine bar at night.
