From Chicago's Smyth to Shoreditch, chef Evelyn Aloupas arrives for a month at Oranj

Smyth is the restaurant that Jeremy Allen White said his character's restaurant in Season 2 of the Bear took inspiration from, and now Londoners can try the food of the restaurant's CDP when she arrives in Shoreditch. Evelyn Aloupas spent two years at the three Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant and she's going to be spending a month cooking up a storm as Oranj's latest residency chef.

For Evelyn's London menu you can expect to try dishes that she says build "on Nordic cooking practices with Japanese influences". Dishes will include:

  • Roasted red beets, black garlic, horseradish-cashew butter, radicchio;
  • Mussels, kohlrabi, brown butter broth, chive
  • Scallops, rice koji allium broth, spring pea, dill
  • Burnt chocolate ice cream, barley-koji crumble, kombu

If all that sounds enticing, it'll be made even more so with a pairing of Oranj’s list of natural wines along with a compact cocktail offering.
