A lot can happen in a month. Less than 30 days ago perhaps the most famous maître d’ in London, Jesus Adorno was celebrating his return to the London restaurant scene. "Here we are again," he wrote on Instagram, "a dream that I didn’t dare to dream until Jeremy King spoke to me about the possibility of taking over the old site, amazing emotions came over me and now we have Arlington restaurant!"
Hot Dinners was lucky enough to secure a table for two in the early weeks and had the great pleasure of seeing Jesus back in action, greeted by his legions of adoring fans.
But it now seems that Jesus has had second thoughts. In a post that caught many by surprise today, he announced: "With great sorrow I handed my notice this morning to Jeremy King at Arlington. It wasn’t a good fit for me and I decided it wasn’t right, #familytime."
The news was met with shock by many including Conde Nast's former head honcho Nicolas Coleridge who replied, "What???????? I’m shocked. Poor us. You have been part of my life for many many decades."
It's a blow for the restaurant for sure. Adorno's 38 years working for it in its previous incarnation as Le Caprice meant he knew the place and its clientele inside out. Who can fill his shoes? We'll wait to find out.
