Sons + Daughters are reopening in King's Cross with a new menu and evening cocktails

sons and daughters reopening in king's cross

Fans of the creative sandwich shop Sons + Daughters in Coal Drops Yard have been kicking their heels this year waiting for it to reopen after a major refurb.

Well, today we bring you good news. Not only are they about to reopen, but they've got loads more new sandwiches planned AND they're going to be open into the evenings too.

Talking to Hot Dinners, the shop's co-founder James Ramsden explained what had been going on behind the scenes since they closed on New Year's Eve. "Our principle aim is to bring S+D back to its original spirit of maximalism while remaining sensitive to the squeeze many are feeling on their wallets, he said. "So there will be price-sensitive grab-and-go options at lunchtime, but these will be beefed up by a frequently changing menu of hot, hearty and creatively hedonistic sandwiches."

Hedonistic sandwiches has already got us planning a visit, particularly when we learned that those might include a spiced beef featherblade with shaved comte, pickled walnut ketchup, horseradish mayo and mustard crisps, or a braised pork shoulder with burnt cabbage slaw, pickled onion and crispy pork skin.

But if you're a fan of their OG classics, never fear the egg and miso mayo with truffle crisps, merguez and fries baguette, and chicken S+Dwich will all still be available. And they're planning a load more breakfast options too.

As for their evening plans, they're going to be open later serving up small plates and cocktails. "It's our aim to serve the best value cocktails in central London," explains James. "No funny business, just really good negronis, martinis, old fashioneds and so on (maybe even a cosmopolitan)." Those will all apparently be around the £7 mark which is definitely a good deal for King's Cross. "It's a 'come for a negroni, stay for two, suddenly find yourself halfway through the bar snacks' kind of deal." Sold.
