The rooftop at TT (previously TT Liquor) in Shoreditch has delivered some rather impressive residencies, with last year's Esti being a notably hit. So, as we (hopefully) head for more settled weather and the rooftop is about to reopen, they've announced a new restaurant taking over the space, this time permanent, that we think is worth keeping an eye on.
In charge will be ex-Oren Head Chef Sam Lone (who's also been at The Palomar, Two Lights and Cabotte) and he'll be running a menu of "fire-cooked seasonal produce". That's partly due to a renovation of the rooftop which has brought in a new Asado-style grill and wood-fired oven.
With snacks including ox cheek croquettes and barbequed chicken thighs with tirokeftari, the main dishes include:
- Lamb shoulder a la plancha with roasted garlic yogurt
- Fire roasted golden beetroot in molasses
- Barbecued mackerel with pickled chilli hot Sauce
Lots of smoking is involved (even on the smoked cauliflower cheese) and desserts include a barbequed pineapple with whipped cheesecake and white chocolate.
The menu does sound great, so this is one to watch over the next few months.
