Liu Xiaomian take their spicy Chongqing noodles to Carnaby

You've got to hand it to whoever's curating the food offering at Kingly Court at the moment. They're really playing a blinding game. Hot on the heels of having signed up everyone's favourite Filipino spot Donia, they've only gone and persuaded the insanely popular noodle purveyors Liu Xiaomian to make a space on the first floor their new permanent home.

If you're not already familiar with the cult Chinese restaurant, the folk behind it are Chongqing expats Liu Qian and Charlene Liu. The pair have been running a series of supperclubs over the past few years attracting a large fanbase - including the sainted Nigella - which adores their noodles in a spicy hot broth.

The new Carnaby restaurant will feature two classic Chongqing dishes on the menu - Xiaomian wheat noodles in an aromatic and spicy broth, and a Hot and Sour Glass Noodle dish. You can then choose from a range of toppings including vegan, minced pork, minced pork and chickpea, spicy beef and spicy pig trotter. There will also be their Numbing Pork Wontons; the clue to their spice level is in the name.
