A new New York-inspired deli has just opened in Belsize Park, taking over the site that used to be Sunday.
A family-run business, it comes from Jack Graham, who previously ran Raw Press in Chelsea, and Amelia Graham who was previously in charge of marketing at Planet Organic (the restaurant is named after their son). An all-day restaurant, it's serving up smoked fish platters, bagels, and homemade soups which include Jack's 96-year-old grandmother's chicken soup.
Classic sandwiches and bagels will be a big thing with "Brick Lane" salt beef sandwiches, Reubens, and smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels on the menu. Other dishes include:
- The Everything Schnitzel - including chicken in matzo crumb, fried egg, capers, anchovies and gravy or garlic butter
- A fish knuckle sandwich with fried fish balls and tartare sauce
- Potato latkes, served with smoked salmon and sour cream
- Cholent Cassoulet - with salt beef, white beans, barley and potato in tomato gravy
Sourcing is a big deal for the pair, with all the meat coming from The Ethical Butcher and the salmon from Secret Smokehouse.
If you like things made 'just so' there's a make-your-own option on the sandwiches, along with lots of breakfast options that include a fish or mushroom scramble and a bloody mary shakshuka. Plus they'll have desserts like challah French toast and honey cake. Backing all that up will be craft beers and a small list of low-intervention wines.
So if you're in Belsize Park and have been looking for a good spot to go for lunch or brunch, it looks like a pretty good replacement has just arrived on the scene.
