Last year, These Days opened their Aperitivo Bar on the Bermondsey Beer Mile and at the time of opening the food was mainly just snacks - bread, cheese and charcuterie. That's about to change as they get ready to open their kitchen, bringing a full menu to the bar.
In charge of that menu is Greg Weaver, who's previously worked at the Culpeper group as well as Japanese fusion restaurant KISSUU in Sydney. So the menu is going to be quite different from your standard Italian chichetti, taking in a mix of European and Asian influences. A taste of that menu includes:
- House pretzels with aonori, fennel, and togarashi seasoning
- Cured trout with rhubarb ponzu
- Jerusalem artichokes with wild mushroom & onsen egg
- Veal escalope with sauerkraut
- Celeriac with miso & radish
- Dark chocolate ganache with blood orange & sage
You can order all of those individually or go crazy and opt for the entire menu for £85.
Alongside the food, they'll be serving a larder wine list as well as spritzes, and a new "kitchen cocktail" that will change regularly. That will kick off with a cocktail of blood orange, port, tequila, Campari and honey.
