When are the Michelin 2025 stars being announced for London, the UK and Ireland?

When will the 2025 London Michelin stars be announced?

This year's announcement will be on Monday 10 February 2025, starting at 6pm.

This year, Michelin is heading to Scotland to present the awards for the first time, announcing them from Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum.

Don't place any bets on this being a bumper year for Scotland in the awards, though, as Michelin can be a little tone-deaf when it comes to their hosts. Last year's awards were at The Midland Hotel in Manchester and Adam Reid's The French was hotly tipped for a star which never came. The city received no stars last year and, as you can imagine, that didn't go down too well locally. Hopefully, Michelin will address that this year, both for Scotland and Adam Reid.

On the day, we'll find out who's won stars this year, as well as who has won a green star (for sustainability) and some of the special awards. The guide itself will then be available to buy online only as they've stopped publishing a physical guide.

What about the Bib Gourmands?

Michelin's awards for best value-for-money restaurants are usually awards a week earlier, so expect these on Monday 3 February. But last year, for some unknown reason, they started announcing them a little earlier than that. So this year, keep an eye on their Instagram account on Sunday 2 February, just in case.

How can I watch the main announcement?

As usual, the awards will be streamed online from 6pm on 10 February and you'll be able to find them on Michelin's YouTube channel. We don't know yet who the presenter will be, but it's likely to be someone linked with Michelin as opposed to a celeb. As ever, we recommend following the Michelin chat on Twitter or YouTube on the day as it's a source of great unrestrained commentary on the unfolding proceedings in real time. Also, expect the announcements to appear on Michelin's Instagram page and Twitter feed.

We, of course, will be putting up our coverage on the night so follow us on our brand new(ish) Bluesky profile to get the latest on any key London announcements.

Do the chefs know in advance if they've won a star?

Normally, all invitees to a physical event who already have a star will be retaining theirs, but most of the restaurants who get shiny new stars will only find out on the day. An invite to the event is usually a good sign, but that could just mean they're up for a special award.

The only exception to advance notification is if they award three stars. That announcement has such an impact on a business that they usually get a little heads-up. Last year, The Ledbury suggested they were unaware, but we remain sceptical.

How many stars are usually awarded?

Michelin presents the stars for all of the UK and Ireland during the same event. In the case of London, we'd normally expect around 10 restaurants to get new stars but the number can vary wildly. Last year, there were eleven new one-stars, three new two-stars and a new three-starred restaurant. The year before only six one-stars were given out.

We'd say to expect a smaller number this year, and it's very unlikely there will be many two/three-star awards. But, as many people following the event in previous years will know, Michelin remains highly unpredictable. We do know that there will be at least two deletions, as both the Michelin-starred Cornerstone and Pollen Street Social have now closed.

As for the current list, you can see all of London's Michelin-starred restaurants here.

And do they still matter?

Every year, this question comes up. However, as much as the awards could do with some modernisation (the delineation between the Bibs and the main stars is certainly one of contention), there are still no other awards that come close to the same kind of wide recognition. The World's 50 Best does get a lot of coverage, but that focuses on a much smaller amount of restaurants overall. So the short answer is: yes. Whether you love them or loathe them, they're still a very big deal.

Which London restaurants currently have a Michelin Star?

In London, there are 77 Michelin-starred restaurants. There are six restaurants with three stars, 13 with two stars and 58 with one star.
