It's been eighteen months since chef and restaurateur Stevie Parle was forced to close his fabulous pop-up Joy at Portobello Dock. Problems with the lease and landlord, followed by protracted efforts to regain that lease eventually ended in failure, leaving Parle's many fans with only the chef's pasta spot Pastaio to enjoy.
But it sounds as though 2024 will be a more fruitful year as Parle took to Instagram today to announce that he's working on a new project. "I’m opening a big new restaurant in the West End next year," he wrote. "I’m not going to tell anyone the name, the concept, who my amazing new partners are or what we’ll be cooking but it’ll be something special for sure and it should be open by the summer. Or it had better be."
One thing he would say is that he's "created new partnerships with forward-thinking farmers and growers all over the country. We have tonnes of carefully-grown regen produce getting ready for us to fire up the wood ovens."
We'll keep you posted on this as we find out more.
