Is a massive kebab house the one thing that Oxford Street really needed? Kebhouze seems to think so.
They're a big kebab chain restaurant mainly with outposts in Italy, including Rome and Milan, but also in Ibiza. Here in London, they're taking a big corner side on Oxford Street, just a few doors down from Marks and Spencer, taking over what used to be a souvenir and vape shop (ah, Oxford Street).
Unlike the vape shop, they'll be taking over all three floors of the building and populating it with arcade games, table football, street art from British artist Philip Colbert AKA The Lobster, and, of course, plenty of space to eat kebabs.
As for those kebabs, they'll come in all shape and form, from traditional wraps to kebab burgers, with the option of chicken, turkey or beef (and a vegetarian version too) with various toppings on offer. Alongside those, you'll find their "Kebowls" which are essentially kebab meat with salads or rice. And for dessert, they have Nutella sandwiches and pancakes. They say they offer "premium ingredients at a low cost and prioritise variety" so we'll have to see how that goes down in practice.
It's certainly something a little different from the American sweet shops on Oxford Street and it's also extremely rare to see a new restaurant opening on the street, so it will be interesting to see how this one does.
