Bar Levan wine bar takes over from Larry's in Peckham

Bar Levan wine bar takes over from Larry's in Peckham

Larry's may be gone, along with chef Nicholas Balfe who is concentrating on his restaurant Holm in Somerset, but Bar Levan is rising in its place. That's coming from Levan co-founders Mark Gurney and Matt Bushnell and will be their new Peckham wine bar.

Taking over the old Larry's spot, right next to Levan, they say they're inspired by Parisian bars like Aux Deux Amis and Septime La Cave. So there will be a focus on organic and biodynamic wines (which they'll be selling to-go too) alongside a menu of snacks. The food includes rillettes, charcuterie, cheese, mussels on crisps and a Croque Monsieur.

They're also hoping to relaunch Strictly Bangers, the music and wine night that took over Brixton's Salon from time to time, as well as hosting guest chef takeovers.
