They've had lots of success with the very viral cube croissants from Le Deli Robuchon, but nearby Comptoir Robuchon in Mayfair hasn't been quite as much of a hit for the same group. So they're changing things up and making it L'Atelier Robuchon instead.
The last L'Atelier Robuchon in London closed in 2019, soon after the chef's death the previous year and this one will be harking back to the classics. So there will be dishes like sea bream carpaccio and quail with foie gras on the menu but most importantly it will have the very buttery mash - the Purée de Pomme de Terre. This did originally appear on the menu at Le Comptoir, so hopefully they'll keep it on this time around because it really does live up to the billing of being the best mash in the world.
As for the look of the place, there have been some key changes. The best improvement is definitely that they've taken away the little wall that was behind the counter, which previously separated you from the chefs. They've also opened up the traditional dining space and added a more traditional bar area up front. If you want to compare with the original, you can see how it looked here.
Will this be more of a success for them? We'll have to wait and see.
