When you’ve worked at Mayfair’s Novikov it’s fair to say that you've probably dealt with plenty of folk for whom budgeting is an alien concept. That’s the background of duo Salvatore Broccu and Marios Louvaris who are behind Knightsbridge’s next big opening, Geode.
Spanning three floors of a Georgian townhouse and including a sculptural cocktail bar at entry level, a mezzanine conservatory with an open-plan kitchen (pizza oven, rotisserie station, Robata grill) and a late-night upper-floor dining space, Geode (named after a crystal) sounds like a rather fancy place to start and/or end your evening; it will also feature live music and DJs once a curtain is drawn to symbolically ‘close the kitchen’.
It's the latest opening from the burgeoning restaurant group Arrow Hospitality, who also run Manthan and Kutir.
Executive chef Francesco Scala (who is also ex-Novokov) will oversee the food, which leans heavily towards both Mediterranean and Asian influences. He's being joined by chef Yuka Aoyama (ex-Nobu, Roka and Annabel’s). Dishes will include:
- Saam de papada Iberico
- Mock Duck
- Beef tartare on roasted bone marrow
On the drinks front, we’re mostly hearing a lot about the cocktail list, where you could try a Ruby Negroni (strawberry-infused mezcal, saffron vermouth and Campari) or perhaps a Geode Old Fashioned (chocolate and tobacco bitters, Pipe's Dream bourbon, orange and maraschino).
In what they are calling a ‘vibe-dining’ concept, the aim is to revive old-school glamour with some theatrical experiences. It all sounds extremely Knightsbridge to us.
