With all the comings and goings in the London food world, we took note when The Prince Arthur in London Fields announced the arrival of its new head chef. Joe Couldridge arrives at the pub with a very interesting career history. Pre-lockdown he was at Hawksmoor before spending the Covid period down in Cornwall with ex-Fera chef Dan Cox on his farm, Crocadon. After that, he was a year at Leroy before most recently being at The Clarence Tavern in Stoke Newington.
The food he's planning for this pub sounds as interesting as his back story - we're being promised treats like:
- Devilled crab hashbrown
- Scotch bonnet cornbread
- Slip soles with bone marrow butter, samphire and sea aster
- Strawberry knickerbocker glory
To go with that you'd need an interesting drinks list and the wine list here runs from Pet Nats to classic Cote du Rhone reds. All in all, a trip here to try out Joe's new menu sounds well worth your time.
