Be it galleries or theatres, it seems that big London institutions have realised that it's now good sense to have an in-house restaurant that's a draw all in itself. Jose Pizarro at The Royal Academy, Richard Corrigan at the National Portrait Gallery or Lasdun by The Marksman team at The National have all proved that it's possible to have really great in-house restaurants. Now The National Theatre is continuing that trend with the announcement of their next opening - Forza Wine.
Previously only seen on a rooftop in Peckham (although sibling to Forza Win in Camberwell), this will be London's second Forza Wine. Like the original, it'll boast some great views as the restaurant takes over the northwest terrace area (inside and outside) of The National. It's all part of a revamp of the theatre's food and drink that's being spearheaded by Kerb.
Described as "sort of Italian", the menu will feature:
- Cauliflower fritti with aioli
- Mozzarella with figs & hazelnuts,
- Pancetta potato cakes & pickled cabbage
Alongside those will be their own soft serve and, of course, wine. We don't know much about that list at the moment, but we'll assume they'll go the natural route like their Peckham cousin. As for cocktails, they'll include a Cherry negroni and a Frozen peach margarita.
The space itself will be adding a private dining terrace on the balcony, and the whole thing will seat 160 people, so it's a big old space.
