When Provisions opened in Hackney last year, the plan was for it to be like the original on Holloway Road - a shop during the day and a wine bar at night. The pandemic and staff shortages threw something of a spanner in the works and it instead opened as just a shop, but with the odd special event in the evening.
That's now changing, however, as they're finally gearing up to open as a wine bar too. Opening on Fridays and Saturdays to start with, it will be doing something similar to the original Holloway Provisions in that the shop will be cleared away to make space for the evening wine bar. There will be around 150 wines to choose from and they are promising some rare bottles too.
The space should fit around 20 people and in addition to the wine, they'll have a new menu that they say will have summer bistro dishes with a Mediterranean influence, like cod brandade, alongside cheese and charcuterie boards. This menu will also be coming to Holloway Road soon.
So if you're looking for a new wine bar in Hackney, this should fit the bill very nicely indeed.
