Updated 25/9/23 with opening date and menu details
A new high-end Italian restaurant is heading to Mayfair. This time, it's the turn of Il Gattopardo, a restaurant that they say is inspired by 1960s Italy.
It's got something of a pedigree, however, coming from the same restaurant group that brought us Bar De Pres, Zuma, Roka and Amazonico, so we're going to assume this will be a no-expense-spared launch.
Food-wise you can expect Italian classics and modern interpretations of dishes from across Italy, with a focus on Sicily, Amalfi and the Southern Isles. The Executive Chef is Massimo Pasquarelli, who's worked with Alain Ducasse in the past and comes via the Ritz Carlton Singapore.
Dishes on his opening menu will include:
- Gamberi, Sicilian Mazara prawns, yellow chicory, citrus zest and Taggiasca olive oil
- Lobster bolognese, with agria potato gnocchi, lobster reduction
- 24-month aged Culatello di Zibello Oro Spigaroli, Oro Spigaroli, gnocco fritto
While lovers of raw fish will appreciate the separate Crudo Bar.
It's worth noting is that there will be a hidden courtyard terrace with a fully retractable roof which sounds like it'll be where you'll want to grab your table along with a private dining room with seating for 14 on the lower ground floor.
