Zia Lucia opens its next pizzeria in West Hampstead with dough made from crickets on the menu

Zia Lucia opens its next Pizzeria in West Hampstead with dough containing crickets on the menu

14/6/23 - updated with the opening date

For their next opening, pizza group Zia Lucia are doing something a little different.

One of their USPs is that there are four different doughs to choose from when ordering a Zia Lucia pizza - white flour, wholemeal, vegetable charcoal, and gluten-free. But in their new West Hampstead restaurant, they're adding something new - flour made from finely milled roasted crickets. They're billing them as the "ultimate sustainable ingredient" and say they'll add a "light and nutty flavour" to your pizza. So if you're after something truly new with your pizza, this could be one to hunt down.

The dough will only be available at the West Hampstead Zia Lucia, so we'll have to see if it's popular enough to bring to their other pizzerias. In the meantime, the new restaurant will feature all of the other doughs and pizzas that have made them so popular (this is their ninth opening). That includes pizzas like the "Centurione" with tomato, mozzarella, prosciutto, cotto and Parmigiano.

They'll also be offering half-price on pizzas during their opening week, so keep an eye out for that.
