Poon's Wontoneria extends its residency with a new menu

poonsevening

Updated with extension to opening dates

We've been hearing very good things about Poon's Wontoneria which has taken over the 12 Charlotte Street pop-up space that's part of Carousel in Fitzrovia. It comes from Amy Poon, whose father was behind the original Poon's, a legendary Chinese restaurant, and who's brought the name back for this "wontoneria".

The residency is getting an extension to February, and that includes a new evening dinner service, with a lot more on the menu which includes:

  • Lisle Street zha jiang noodles with sautéed tofu and "fried sauce"
  • Wind-dried meats rice bowl
  • "Shou Si" chicken:
  • Steamed pumpkin with fǔzhú, Chinese mushrooms and black bean sauce
  • "Ode to Helen Goh": baked Chinese pears with dates, star anise and toasted walnuts

All that's alongside the signature pork, chicken, prawn and vegetable wontons in chilli vinegar dressing.

You'll be able to book the evening counter seats too (lunchtimes are walk-in only) and there will be new cocktails on the list too. So if you couldn't make it down for lunch, we think this is definitely one to try for dinner.
