If you haven't yet made it out to Crouch Hill to Max's Sandwich Shop then get ready to try Max Halley's sandwiches in a much more central location. He's teamed up with none other than The Hippodrome for the new Max Halley at the Hippodrome.
It might at first seems a rather strange place for him to open - but they say it links back to the origins of the sandwich itself. That's because the 4th Earl of Sandwich didn't want to leave a card table to eat, so asked for roast beef between two slices of bread - and thus the sandwich was created. Ok - we'll take that if it means there are more chances to try Max's sarnies.
It's an all-new menu that includes the following:
- Meatball Bonanza (panini roll) - USDA meatballs, tomato sauce, creme fraiche, oregano, mozzarella & American mustard
- Prawn Cocktail Please (brioche) - Prawns in Marie rose, shredded lettuce, avocado, cucumber, crushed prawn cocktail crisps
- Bacon Chop BLT (panini roll) - A grilled bacon chop, lettuce wedge, marinated tomatoes, smoky bacon & jalapeno mayo
- A Fried Coronation Chicken Sandwich (brioche) - Buttermilk fried chicken, lime pickled onions, nigella seeds, iceberg lettuce, coronation sauce
He's also come up with two of what he dubs Straight Up Deli Classics (on ciabatta) which are:
- Veggie: grilled artichokes & aubergines, sun-blushed tomatoes, burrata, lemon zest, chopped green olives, basil & truffle mayo
- Meaty: Mortadella, cooked ham, artichokes, burrata, basil, lemon zest, chopped green olives & truffle mayo
You'll be able to order the sandwiches anywhere in the casino at any time. So that's every day 10:00am - 5:00am - pretty much any time you have a sandwich craving then...
