They only opened Hicce Hart on Chapel Market late last year, but Hicce have already expanded across the road in Islington with Little Pizza Hicce. They'd already trialled the pizza offshoot with a popup at Goodness Brewery (whose beer is available at Hicce Hart) but this is the first proper standalone site for it.
It's not something that was planned as part of Hicce Hart either - Pip Lacey and Gordy McIntyre only saw the site come on the market once the pub was underway. It's a small space selling predominantly pizza and wine but there's nothing quite like it in the area right now, so it's a pretty good addition to the Market.
We popped down to take a look at the pizzas menu (which are all available without cheese if you must) and there's a very unique bunch of them on offer which includes:
- Asparagus, tomato, mozzarella fior di latte, courgette, jersey royals, brown butter, hazelnut, radish and black pepper
- Italian fennel sausage, tomato, mozzarella fior di latte, curdito "cult jar" ferment
- Egg, tomato, fior di latte, radicchio, pine nuts, black garlic and Parmesan
- Brett's breasola, tomato, mozzarella fior di latte, rocket, caper berries, olive oil
For dessert, there's ice cream in a waffle cone (chocolate, mango or pistachio) and wines start at an extremely reasonable £20 for a bottle, if you have them in, and all are also available to takeaway (starting at £10) if you want your pizza to go.
All in all, this is a great addition to Islington.
