In Barcelona, Terraza Martinez is best known for being the place to enjoy a seafood paella overlooking the sea from their position on the slopes of Montjuic. So it's going to be very interesting to see what the team behind that do with their first London restaurant.
The Campaner (the name means bell ringer in Spanish) is taking over the award-winning restaurant space designed by architect Ben Pentreath at Chelsea Barracks. The space already had a few test-runs in restaurant mode, playing host to two Ollie Dabbous popups, The Chelsea Barracks Kitchen and Hideaway.
On the food-front we're told The Campaner will look to its Barcelona heritage, but with a big focus on British suppliers, so they're going to be working with the likes of Wright Bros, Natoora, Neal’s Yard, HG Walter, and Walter and Son.
Charcoal oven-cooked specials and large rice dishes to share will be the order of the day with a few of Terraza Martinez' signatures making it over to London including the monkfish and lobster casserole and Coquelette with baked rice, seasonal legumes and vegetables.
It'll be open from late breakfast onwards, so if you're popping in during the day you'll find eggs and pastries along with jamon and caviar on offer.
The restaurant's cloistered walkway should be a lovely spot for alfresco terrace dining come the warmer months.
