Homies on Donkeys picked up a big reputation for their tacos at their original Walthamstow location, but they moved on at the end of 2022, and were looking for a new location. Now, according to The Leytonstoner, they've found it. They'll be taking over the old Spicebox location in Leytonstone.
Led by Head Chef Smokey, expect the new space to continue in the theme of the original - so that's lots of original tacos (with weekly changing specials) and plenty of hip hop. The main tacos are Cochinito in Chipotle (pork), Chicken in adobo or Soy al Pastor. Other dishes to be aware of are their camaron enchilado, king prawns in a chilli, garlic and tomato sauce, with recent specials including carna asada, swordfish quesatacos and veggie tacos with charred broccoli, blue stilton, and house-made salsa macha.
So yes, this should be a very big deal for Leytonstone (albeit a loss for Walthamstow). Look out for a Kickstarter coming to support the new site very soon.
