Cocktail enthusiasts, sit up. This summer sees the return of Cocktails in the City to London’s Bedford Square Gardens.
There’ll be the usual masterclasses, tastings, interactive games, live music, street food, and – of course – exciting cocktails from 60 of London’s best bars for your enjoyment, all within a private beautiful Georgian garden.
This year the three alfresco events will be held on three separate months, each having its own theme, starting with The Inspiration Edition, then The Travel Edition and finishing up with A Festival of Drinks. So, pick your favourite - or attend them all (you’ve got time to recover in between!). Each bar will appear in a slightly different pop-up guise across all three events, so you can sample the best of Mayfair’s, Soho’s and Shoreditch’s hotspots all in one location.
Here's our take on the highlights of each of those themes:
- Inspiration Edition (6-8 July): showcases the latest trends, flavours and innovative new brands. There’ll be exclusive workshops, such as TT Liquor’s cocktail shaking and Ice Carving Cool’s ice carving lessons. Bars will include Henson’s Bar and Social, Blue Bar at The Berkeley and more.
- The Travel Edition (17 - 19 August): Here you can sample liquid delights from Mexico to Japan, courtesy of London’s hottest bars and the continent’s leading bartenders. Bars for this outing include Café Pacifico, Punch Room at London Edition and Laki Kane.
- A Festival of Drinks (7-9 September): The festival ramps up, with summer-vibes-influenced spritzes and slushies, a silent disco, interactive games and live music. Here you'll find bars like Prince Akatoki, Bourne & Hollingsworth, The Mayor Of Scaredy Cat Town
So if you want to try as many bars in an evening as you can (without all the travelling), look at keeping those dates free.
