Craving Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Nice and Antibes? If you feel the need for some Côte d'Azur dining, a new restaurant called Riviera is opening in St James’s Street. It's aiming for luxurious South-of-France vibes alongside high-end dining, something that is somewhat similar in concept to the recently opened Socca.
It’s on the former site of Sake no Hana, the fine-dining Japanese restaurant from the Hakkasan Group, which permanently closed in 2021 after a decade of trading. Riviera will be the fourth London restaurant from Emerald Hospitality Group, responsible for launching Como Garden and Zuaya on Kensington High St and El Norte in Mayfair.
At Riviera, you’ll have a choice of three glamorous areas: the ground-floor bar and lounge, the main dining area or the outdoor terrace. The chef is a mystery for the moment, but we can see that the sharing-style menu doesn’t hold back in the indulgence stakes, with seafood sourced from the Côte d'Azur’s shores. You can expect:
- Lobster with yuzu butter
- Chateaubriand
- Grapefruit king crab salad
- Lemongrass marinated scallops
- Pistachio millefeuille
There’ll be a curated international wine list, including some upper-echelon Champagnes from France, of course.
