Now that Dry January's firmly behind us, what better time to announce a brand new wine bar in the city. The place in question is The Bishop's Vaults which takes over the former Boisdale of Bishopsgate site.
The two-floored bar from the Young's pub group will, given its position in the heart of the city, feature a short list for a wine bar but one that focuses more on spendy options like Bollinger, Amarone and Condrieu as well as crowd pleasers like a Spanish white rioja in the sub £30 category.
For food, the menu centres around cheese and charcuterie boards featuring everything from Northern Blue Cheese to Cornish Nettle Yarg through to Dorset Coppa and Islington salami. But we're pleased to see the addition of the classic pub snack pickled egg and crisps on there too.
The speakeasy-style downstairs bar sounds like a good spot to hit if you're after somewhere a little less frenetic than the usual City watering holes, with its vaulted booths.
