If you’re craving some quality Chinese comfort food as ballast against the daily doom and gloom, then put Covent Garden on your itinerary: Charco Charco Hot Pot is open and waiting for you. It’s a new dining destination spanning two floors, with a ground-floor sushi bar as well as a 100-seater restaurant serving regional street-food dishes and, as the name suggests, a hot-pot burner on every table for your experimental bliss.
Alongside the sushi counter offering, there's the DIY hot-pot fun, where the adventurous can really get to work with everything from premium Japanese Wagyu and abalone to chicken feet, tripe and ox tongue and even house specials of rabbit, frogs’ legs and fish head. Also on the menu, you’ll find the likes of:
- Konjac tofu with hot and sour sauce
- Emei bamboo shoots with Sichuan pepper
- Prawn wonton in mushroom soup
- Special Chengdu dry noodles
- Beef noodles with bamboo shoots
Leo Jin is the name behind it, who supplies 90% of London’s Chinese restaurants, as well as many across the UK, in Singapore and also mainland China. He also has another Charco Charco branch in Holborn (Charco Charco Yakiniku), which serves Japanese yakiniku, sukiyaki, sashimi and sushi maki.
