Henny's in its previous guise
Tooting Broadway Market’s loss is Balham’s gain, with the news that Henny’s Wine Bar has upped sticks and set up shop in leafy Balham. If you’re a fan of ethical and sustainably sourced biodynamic wines, you’ll no doubt already have Henny’s on your radar, but their new hangout space intends to be so much more than the place to quaff a Muscat from Conca de Barberà or discuss the merits of funky orange drop from Puglia.
It’s (almost) a case of coming full circle for Henny’s, a wine bar and bottle shop that originated in 2017 in Tooting Market, not too far away from the new site. And if you’re daunted or carry preconceived notions of an organic/ biodynamic wine bar, fear not: Henny’s is keen for their new Balham home to be a safe space for novices to explore what they like, with an emphasis on by-the-glass options rather than an extensive bottle list.
Snacks, you say? They’ve got that covered too, with a selection of nibbles at the bar and Yard Sale Pizza on hand to deliver wood-fired sourdough bases with toppings of your choice directly to your table. In fact, this could become the coolest place to ‘WFH’ (Work from Henny’s), with tea and coffee available during the day and regular events in the pipeline, such as art classes and tutored tastings.
Feel free to bring your wine-averse friends as well, as there’ll be a couple of beers on tap and a handful of cocktails (Negroni Sbagliato, French 75 and a classic G&T).
