Studio Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle is coming to Selfridges in food form as it takes over their Dolly’s Café for a month.
It's all part of Loewe's new capture collection inspired by the movie. It's actually the third of Loewe's Studio Ghibli collections (they've already done My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away) but the first to come with a pop-up on the side. This is mainly because of Calcifer, a fire demon who appears in the movie, doing a little cooking along the way. Hence the cafe in Selfridges becomes Calcifer's Kitchen.
The main focus is going to be their take on afternoon tea, so you can expect meadow-inspired sandwiches, vermicelli broomsticks, macarons, cakes, cloud terrines, and more twists on traditional Alsace specialities (where the film is set). Even the tableware is themed, with various bits and pieces based on the film, including main character Sophie's hat.
On top of that, there will be an exhibition about the movie and some special cocktails by top Parisian bar Le Syndicat. So, if you're a Studio Ghibli fan, a trip to Oxford Street sounds like an absolute must.
