Hot Dinners exclusive - updated 15/3/23 with opening date
They already have two barges, one roaming and one moored, but now London Shell Co are moving onto terra firma. They're getting ready to open their first land-based site, a fishmonger and seafood bar near Parliament Hill.
The move is rooted in something they did to survive the lockdowns, a period where they moved into selling fish direct to the public while the barges were closed. So this new site will be part fishmonger and part seafood bar which will seat around 30 - there will also be space for a wine shop.
In charge of the food is Grace Bryson (currently Sous Chef on The Grand Duchess). We'll get details of the final menu closer to the opening, but we've been told to expect whole Cornish crab to share, house cured anchovies and trout sausages & mash. They'll also have a special oyster deal between 4-6pm daily, where oysters will be £2 each and all cocktails and wine glasses will cost £2 less than normal. Seems like a very good reason to finish up work early and pop down there.
In the future, expect tastings, events and masterclasses and they'll be putting together picnic bundles for the Heath when the warmer weather arrives.
The brains behind this are Harry and Leah Lobek who are opening it in the neighbourhood where they grew up. As they say - "We love this area and we felt it could use a little restaurant like ours, so to be able to combine the two concepts is a dream come true."
