Regular visitors to The Bridge Theatre in London will know that, in addition to the fine shows being put on there, one of the big lures of the theatre is the fact that their cafe and bar is run by the folks at St John. That means great wines by the glass along with the joys of fresh madeleines being made to order while you're in the theatre boosting your cultural credentials.

So it's of note then, that the folks behind the Bridge Theatre are also going to be responsible for the new arts venue The Lightroom in King's Cross. This sibling venue will be a home for artist-led shows and is opening with what's sure to be a sold-out immersive David Hockney exhibition. But, and here's the interest for foodie folk, it will also have an all-day cafe and bar run by St John which you can pop into even if you don't have tickets to the exhibition.

We're told that The Lightroom bar will offer a range of snacks along with St John's amazing doughnuts and that the madeleines to order will be available here as well. Culture and cake - what's not to like?
