You might have your favourite restaurant in London’s Chinatown, or are even happily attempting to work your way through them all, but we have a new one for your list and it’s a Korean BBQ concept.
Called Pochawa Grill, the name is inspired by ‘Pocha’, a shortened version of Pojangmacha, which is the term for street food stalls/restaurant carts on wheels in Korea. The clue here is that it will be a fairly casual and informal establishment, even though it’s coming to us from experienced restaurateurs Maguro Group, responsible for the Wing Wing Korean fried chicken chains and Seoul Plaza supermarkets, among others.
And yes, Korean street-food dishes, as well as Korean culture, drink and music will all feature in the 50-seat venue.
Foodwise, you can expect the likes of:
- Tofu Kimchi
- Rabokki (a Korean portmanteau for ramen-tteokbokki), which features spicy rice cakes and ramen noodles
- Osam-Bulgogi: a spicy squid and pork stir-fried dish
On the drinks side, as well as traditional East Asian beverages and a cocktail menu, Pochawa Grill is going to going to go big on the popular Korean spirit Soju.
