Marylebone continues to be one of London's epicentres for restaurant openings, with Nakanojo’s plans to launch a new site there. It’s a little over a year since Nakanojo opened on Chelsea’s King’s Road, becoming the first ‘Peruvian Izakaya’ in the capital, and fans of its Nikkei-inspired dishes will be thrilled that they may not just be stopping at two London restaurants. But before we get ahead of ourselves, here’s the lowdown on the second Nakanojo site.
Named after a small town in Japan, the Marylebone restaurant will also have Nakanojo’s trademark cherry blossom tree and mural, so that’s the pretty aesthetics in place to admire over your pisco sours, sake or boba cocktails. The 100-seater restaurant will span two floors and, in addition to a broad range of sushi, the menu will include sharing dishes such as:
- Taco Fiesta: choice of fillings includes pulled pork pibil, Wagyu carne asada, salmon ceviche and portobello tataki
- Chicken kara-age coated in chipotle mayo and red onion
- Sea bass ceviche with coconut leche de tigre, red onion, mango salsa and canchas
If you’re surprised by the assertiveness of this start-up’s growth, then we direct your attention with more than a little admiration to its founder, Josh Ahmet, who is not just a hospitality entrepreneur but a 34th generation Shaolin warrior monk, proficient in Shaolin kung fu and a coach for Great Britain in the Kung Fu World Championships. So, don’t even think of running out on your bill. Just saying.
