We're very big fans of pate en croute here at Hot Dinners, so news of the return of Maison Francois' Croute Off has cheered us immensely. Just as you'd expect, it has some of London's best restaurants getting together to compete for the best pate en croute of 2022.
There's a pretty impressive list of names involved too, many already producing some pretty fine croutes at their own restaurants They are:
- Sam White of 45 Jermyn Street
- Fred Smith of Flat Iron
- George Jehpson of Cadet
- Harneet Baweja of Gunpowder
- Jesse Dunford Wood of Parlour
- Margot Henderson of Rochelle Canteen
- Pascal Weidemann of Pompette
- Ben Walgate and Tom Ryalls of Tillingham
- Fabien Spagnolo, Lewis de Haas of Crispin
- Tom Noest of The Bell
- Ben Tish and team of The Barley Mow
- Max Rocha and team of Café Cecilia
- Ben Tonks of The Seahorse.
it's all coinciding with the launch of Beaujolais Nouveau, so expect a fair bit of that on the night, along with the chance to judge for yourselves just who's made the best pate en croute. By trying every single one of them, of course...
