The openings at Battersea Power Station are coming thick and fast. On the heels of the main opening last month, we're now hearing about a new Italian coming to the area. TOZI has long been one of the good places to eat down near Victoria station. Way before any of the Nova openings, this critically acclaimed Italian bar and restaurant was serving up top-tier Venetian dishes.
Now the team behind that are heading to south London with their next project TOZI Grand Cafe. This is going to be the all-day spot at Battersea's new art’otel London Battersea Power Station.
The two chefs in charge of the food offering will be Executive Head Chef, Lee Streeton (45 Jermyn St, Daphne’s) alongside TOZI Victoria’s Head Chef Maurilio Molteni (Neal Street Restaurant). The pair say they've been inspired by Europe’s famous cafés for this new opening. And it's firmly an all-day affair from baked eggs with spianata piccante, puttanesca and potatoes for breakfast through to an afternoon tea offering including pistachio cannoli and maritozzi brioche buns.
The all-day menu kicks off with cicchetti like zucchini fritti and crispy sage with anchovy, moving onto pasta and mains. There's also a meat section with steaks from Northern Ireland's Peter Hannan including his famous sugar pit bacon chop.
As for drinks, the obligatory negroni section features an olive oil negroni alongside a garibaldino and a selection of spritzes together with an exclusively Italian wine list.
