Dancing on tables could be behaviour from your past (or present, we’re not judging) but it’s the vibe that the new Hotel Amano are looking to bring to their restaurant Penelope’s when it opens. The hotel group want to recreate the monthly parties that are apparently of renown at its Berlin site, selling out in minutes and promising inventive food and cocktails.
The restaurant itself will feature a fusion of Spanish and Israeli flavours, inspired by Amano co-founder Ariel Schiff, via way of his Tel-Aviv and southern Spain upbringing. Head Chef Shimon Peretz (from Amano’s Mani restaurant in Berlin) and Executive Chef Fezile Ozalgan (formerly of José Pizarro, Hovarda and Barboun) are behind the menu. You can expect sharing-style tapas dishes, such as:
- Israel sofrito with pulled chicken and laffa bread
- Iberico ham carpaccio with raw tahini and pomegranate syrup
- Paella Israeli style, with whole lobster, freekeh and gin-tomato sauce
There’ll be DJs playing on the weekend to encourage the hands-in-the-air action, Mediterranean nightlife style, where you can try to forget about the reality of the London weather.
