Asma Khan and her Darjeeling Express team have returned to Carnaby and Kingly Court, where they first opened five years ago.
"We are returning to our spiritual home- and in a bigger space!" she originally announced on Instagram. "This was where we began our journey five years ago- an #AllFemaleKitchen serving the food of our families. It is a joyous #Homecoming!"
The closure of the restaurant's most recent Covent Garden location came following Asma's desire to find a restaurant space with an open kitchen that didn't hide her all-female kitchen team away. So the new space is much more of an open affair.
As for the food, it's a la carte during the day, with a set menu in the evening, with options on the menu including:
- Prawn Malaikari - Coconut milk-based traditional Bengali dish
- Beef Tamatar Gosht - Slow-cooked beef in fragrant spices in a tomato base.
- Paneer Korma - Indian cheese in a rich coconut cream & tomato gravy
- Badami Baingan - Aubergine with coconut, almond & peanut base with tamarind
Now we just need to get Paul Rudd back in there...
