There were huge queues when Popeyes opened its first restaurant in Stratford, and that was just a concession in Westfield. Other than popping up for delivery-only dark kitchens across town, they hadn't opened any new restaurants in London - until now. They've gone to the opposite side of town to open in Ealing - something that will actually be their first standalone restaurant in London.
Here, you can expect pretty much what's already been popular in Stratford. So that means it's mainly all about their fried chicken, marinated in Louisiana herbs & spices, then breaded, battered and fried. Then it's up to you to decide whether you fancy chicken pieces, tenders or one of their chicken sandwiches. And all that can be paired with some sides you just can't find anywhere else - like the mash and Cajun gravy or the biscuit and Cajun gravy.
It has lots of fans and even Giles Coren visited the Stratford original. So expect queues when they open the doors, for sure.
