2/11/22 - updated with the opening date
The Tottenham Court Road end of Oxford Street's days as the shabbier part of the shopping thoroughfare appears to be drawing to a close. Hard on the heels of the Elizabeth Line opening, the attendant developments at that end of the street are starting to unveil their plans, and many of them contain restaurants.
Tattu was the first to open back in April and we've also brought you news about stars, which is about to open on Charing Cross Road. Now we hear that a huge new Mediterranean restaurant, Cavo, is on the brink of opening too.
Cavo will be in the same building, the Outernet, as Tattu. It's taken over the fourth floor of the development and is going to be - quite literally - huge. The restaurant itself is over 10,000 square foot with room for 240 diners (about the same size as Quaglinos) and that's before you take their massive rooftop gardens into account. There'll also be a private dining room with room for 25 guests.
Open all day from brunch through to dinner, Cavo will serve up Mediterranean dishes, have a raw fish and carpaccio bar and a wine list that "spans the Mediterranean old and the new – the traditional wine regions of Italy, France and Spain with delicious new wines from the Middle East and Israel".
Tapas dishes they'll be serving up include:
Chipirones with beetroot mayonnaise
artichoke hummus with fried artichoke leaf and goat yoghurt
Lasagna Crocante with 36 month dry aged Parmesan cream
