Restaurant at Sun Street sees ex-Roast chef serve up modern British in the City

sun street hotel city of London restaurant

Tucked in between Moorgate and Liverpool Street a luxury boutique hotel has just opened its doors. Sun Street Hotel is part of a new City development called One Crown Place. And, as you might expect, they've got a restaurant and bar they want everyone to know about.

Restaurant at Sun Street is going to be a modern British affair run by chef Stuart Kivi-Cauldwell who comes here via Gordon Ramsay's The Narrow, The Wolseley and, most recently, Roast at Borough Market. "I love the feel of Sun Street – right in the heart of the city," the chef says. "It’s a historic building, and I’m a bit of a food historian – I like bringing old dishes back to life."

Dishes on his launch menu will include:

  • Chicken liver mousse with crispy chicken skin and soda bread
  • Native British lobster with Koffmann's fries
  • Grilled hispi cabbage with truffled mash and oat milk sauce

There'll also be a part of the menu devoted to cuts on the Josper grill including a wagyu steak from Ridgeway Farm in Ireland where cows are fed grass, olive feed and chocolate.

The hotel sounds like a particularly nice spot to hit up on a sunny day with both a wood-panelled main dining room along with an Orangery for breakfast and lunch and a secluded courtyard for alfresco dining.
