US restaurant Sparrow Italia to launch in Mayfair

If Mayfair wasn’t already buzzing with forthcoming new restaurant openings, here is news of another. This time it’s by way of Los Angeles as well as the southern European coast. Allow us to explain.

Hospitality group Noble 33 first launched fine-dining Italian restaurant Sparrow Italia in downtown Los Angeles late last year and now they’re bringing a version of it to London. Taking over the former site of five-storey Mykonos-inspired Onima restaurant, Sparrow Italia will focus on Italian and Mediterranean dishes with a modern twist. There’ll be a ground floor lounge and bar, a terrace dining room on the first floor, a parlour dining room on the second, and a cigar lounge on the third floor.

Executive Chef from Noble 33, AJ McCloud, is behind menu development, and the restaurant design will include hints of emerald and blue amid the marble, as well as tile insets and wood that will hopefully lure you into thinking you might be enjoying homemade pasta on the romantic Italian coast.

On the London menu you'd find dishes like:

  • Truffle pizza with truffle parmesan cream, wild mushroom, heritage potato, fresh shaved truffle and truffle oil
  • Lobster linguine - with British Isles lobster, acqua pazza, lemon-parsley butter and toasted bread crumb
  • Grilled branzano with Sicilian pistachio and charred lemon

One thing though - this is no budget option. That linguine comes in at £75 while a Tomahwak is an eye watering £190.

We’re also hoping they’ll be bringing their weekend brunch concept from LA too, as the idea of Mayfair diners enjoying Crab Cake Benedict and caviar sharing platters with buttery toast sounds entirely appropriate.
