Islington's Compton Arms gets a reprieve

Islington's Compton Arms gets a reprieve

Mid-August, there was something of an uproar when we heard that one of Islington's best pubs, The Compton Arms was under threat due to a licensing review. Well, the review took place last night and we're pleased to reveal that the pub is now out of danger.

Looking at the details of the decision, released by Islington council today, it was noted that there were more than 2000 responses from the public backing the pub. So if you were one of those people who responded, well done for doing your bit.

That doesn't mean there won't be some changes though. Among other changes, they'll be limiting the people standing outside the front to 20 people (excluding match days when there are no limitations), the garden will be restricted to people seated only and there will be a number of measures to help the pub manage noise.

Overall though, it seems like sense has prevailed. As the decision says "The conditions aimed to address concerns raised, while ensuring that the licensed premises can continue to be an asset to the community." A pint to celebrate then?
