Not having had an actual real-life ceremony for three years, we're imagining that last night's AA Hospitality Awards were a doozy of a party. Hosted by TV's Gabby Logan, the awards handed out gongs to restaurants and hotels across the country and London did pretty well out of it.
The Ritz's John Williams MBE picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award. "It’s been a challenging couple of years," the chef said, "but I really believe the entire experience that we are offering in The Restaurant is the best it has ever been."
Other London restaurants celebrating alongside him were Chez Bruce which won London Restaurant of the Year and Hélène Darroze at The Connaught which won Best Service.
It was also a good night for The Ledbury, The Ormer Mayfair and the Social Eating House, all of whom were raised to Four Rosettes - a level that the AA says makes them "among the top restaurants in the UK, where the cooking demands national recognition."
Congratulations to them all!
