N16 residents may have noticed the hoardings going up on Stoke Newington Church Street for a promising-sounding bagel shop. Turns out Good Things is going to be a standalone bagel and deli counter from the folk behind The Good Egg.
As they explained to Hot Dinners, their own love affair with bagels grew during lockdown when their delivery kits kept the business afloat. As they don't have space to keep up with production in their tiny kitchen at The Good Egg down the road, they decided to give them their own home alongside lots of other Good Things that will be available to eat in and take home.
The new takeaway and eat-in spot will focus on their hand-rolled, sesame-covered Montreal-style bagels which are freshly baked on site every day. In addition to current favourites like trout lox & schmear and salt beef they've a range of new bagels planned including:
- ZFC, smoked cheddar, bacon + pickled onions
- Matzo fried fish, gem + horseradish mayo
- Tahini chicken caesar gem + pine nut dukkah
- Caramelized banana, raw tahini, date syrup + cream cheese
Plus the opening heralds the return of their much-loved and missed whitefish salad bagel.
You'll also be able to get salads, granola and whole babkas to go along with drinks like their cherry & pistachio malt shakes. Definitely a great-sounding addition to the neighbourhood.
