Anyone working from home in the N1 area now has a new option for lunch that is going to be a considerable upgrade on whatever they normally forage from their fridge. Pophams' Islington branch has brought back a full lunch menu, along with a new chef to head up the kitchen at their original bakery.
Running things is chef Florence Kickham who has moved over from the pasta team at London Fields. She was trained up at The Pig before joining Pophams' Head Chef Rae in their London Fields pasta kitchen where she had been for a year before her promotion to Islington.
Dishes you can expect include green broth and butter bean soup with feta and Pophams sourdough or buttered cornbread with courgette, sweetcorn and boiled egg. A short range of three sourdough toasties each day sounds worth trying too including a jalapeno cream cheese toastie with sweetcorn, mozzarella and red onion.
