Duck + Champagne is serving up duck burgers and grower champagnes at the Chelsea Funhouse

We're always looking out for interesting new pop-ups and residencies and a new one down in Chelsea has caught our eye. Duck + Champagne at the Chelsea Funhouse on King's Road sounds definitely worth a punt.

The key thing is that the people behind it. Steve Huggett and Claire Hodgson, have a frankly stellar CV of having worked for top restaurants here in London and New York. Steve's background includes two Michelin-starred The Square and Le Trompette, while Claire was at The Spotted Pig in New York and was head chef at the Ottolenghi restaurant Nopi.

The concept is pretty simple, they're pairing some lovely sounding duck dishes with a roster of small-batch independent Champagnes.

  • British duck burger - slow roast pulled duck, bacon jam, pig in stuffing and spinach
  • Confit duck leg cassoulet - with sausage, bacon lardons flageolet beans and herb pistou
  • Duck shawarma - with grilled flatbread, chopped salad, mint yoghurt, pickled chilli and red onion
  • Duck fat-loaded fries - slow roast pulled duck, hoisin sauce, spring onions, crispy shallots

There are plenty of vegan options available too and we note that a lot of the menu is both gluten and dairy free if that's an issue of concern to you.
