Updated 20/9/22 with opening date
If inventive, towering sarnies stacked with the best ingredients are your thing, then we bring you good news indeed. The folks behind Sons + Daughters sandwiches in Coal Drops Yard are expanding. They're taking over the old 26 Grains site on Stoney Street at Borough Market for their second sandwich shop.
"After a long search we couldn’t be more pleased to be opening in Borough Market," co-founder James Ramsden (who's also behind Pidgin in Hackney) told Hot Dinners. "It’s vibrant and exciting and gives us great scope to serve delicious sandwiches, salads and snacks, soft serve ice creams, cocktails and coffees."
As you might expect they'll be making full use of the amazing produce to be found on their doorstep in the market. A monthly market special is planned which will champion what can be found there. There are also new sandwiches being worked on right now for the Borough menu to join classics like their Prawn Salad made with prawn crackers, napa cabbage, pickled ginger and jalapeño vinaigrette and their Chicken sarnie stuffed with roast Swaledale chicken, soy-cured parmesan, pickled cucumber, gem lettuce, miso mayo and more on a toasted white bloomer.
To go with those sandwiches there'll be coffee from Climpsons, natural wines, cocktails, beers and - they promise - good times.
