Taca Tacos find a permanent home in the Deptford arches

The latest street food regular to find a permanent place for themselves is Taca Tacos in Deptford.

They've been serving up tacos every week at Brockley Market for three years, along with doing pop-ups and residencies, and now they've found a permanent place in the Deptford arches. They were set up by Thorne Addyman, who was inspired to create Cali-style tacos after trips to Calfornia, and he's been joined by Head Chef Tung Van Fan.

The signature dish is their beef birria, which does sound good. That's brisket braised for 6 hours in their own bone broth with a mixture of Mexican guajillo, ancho and pasilla chilies. Corn tortillas are dipped into the oil created by that and fried with Monterey Jack cheese and chopped beef, filled with pink onions, coriander and homemade salsa and then dipped into the broth again. Yes, we'd like that very much,

There are also baja fish tacos, pimientos and a pulled shroom quesataco as well as nachos, quesadillas and burritos round off the menu.

On the weekends there's more at brunch, when you can add eggs and hash browns to the tacos or burritos.  And they will have their own house margarita, of course.
